The Cost of Life
Up to 500 people died last Friday due to a landslide in Badakhshan province, Afghanistan. After two days looking for survivors, the local Governor declared "We cannot continue the search and rescue operation anymore, as the houses are under meters of mud. We will offer prayers for the victims and make the area a mass grave".
A few thousands of kilometers from there, hundreds of people have been working since March 8th, to find, in the middle of the ocean, missing flight MH370 and its 227 passengers and 12 crew members. It represents, according to the estimations, more than USD100 million spent for the operation (and therefore more than ICRC's budget in Afghanistan for 2013).
How much are we ready to invest to find the mortal remains of relatives? Is there a limit to everything, a maximum cost to truth? I wonder...

Winter packing
When you have spent the past 5 years working in Africa, moving to a country with four seasons is great. Except when you need to pack winter clothes (in addition to the usual food, books and photo gear)... Gosh, I already miss my light shoes and shirts.

Silence
The sky is filled with stars and the night absolutely silent. Just a small, soft music, in my head.
Lots of meetings and discussions with interlocutors. Some sms. And a memory card in my pocket, containing some first official pictures to be processed.
The music gets lounder. 48 heartbeats/min.
Another night in Africa.

Love, Smile and Two Flight tickets
- "I again spent the night with that guy. I really have a crush on him"
- "Is it why you look so tired? ... :-)"
- "No, I was just so afraid of telling him "I love you" while dreaming that I did not sleep at all"
- "Love is tough..."
Friendships sometimes lies in details. Not in the amount of emails exchanged or in the frequency of your phone calls. Sometimes, it's just about a story shared on skype, or a card sent from the other side of the world for Christmas.
Love lies in microscopic details...

Inspiration
In Perpignan, admiring the work of some of the best photographers. Thousands and thousands of pictures, teasing me, pushing me, inspiring me and forcing me to do better and to re-question my vision of photography and of the world.And a book, particularly stunning: Bosnia 1992 - 1995 with an amazing selection of fantastic photographers including James Nachtway, Gary Knight, Ron Haviv, Eric Bouvet and many others. Just watch the video and you'll certainly understand what I meant. My love for books is not going to die now...

Close your Eyes
I am facing a serious lack of inspiration and creativity. The contrast with my excitation while taking pictures in Vietnam is a bit too important.
